With 2020 coming to an end, all Clubs were invited to participate in a meeting on Saturday to help shape the 2021 season.
Multiple key decisions were made regarding the 2021 season, including the Start Date and expected Grand Final Day.
The 2021 Season will kick off on Saturday 10th April 2021, with an expected 18 round competition to occur, including one Competition Bye on Saturday 12th June 2021 (June Long Weekend). The Regular Season is expected to conclude on 14th August 2021, and Grand Finals will be held on Saturday 4th September 2021.
Looks like a lot of clubs have already taken action from this being decided on the weekend, with Clubs scheduling the start of Pre-Season with most returning in Mid-January. Check your local Clubs Social Media pages for more details.
Following the SIRU Junior Council Meeting held on Saturday 5th December, we are pleased to be able to announce the dates for the 2021 SIRU Junior Season!
With 2020 coming to an end, it certainly was a year that tested all of our clubs, but with some Rugby played regardless of the COVID-19 pandemic and varying restrictions, all 11 Clubs are keen to be back on board this year and looking forward to Rugby being the focus.
All clubs will return on Sunday 2nd May 2021, with 9 Gala Days to occur before 2 weeks of finals to complete the season on 29th August in Grenfell.
For all the dates, please see below.
A main point of discussion during the SIRU Junior Council Meeting was the introduction and success of smaller Gala Days featuring 3 Clubs. All clubs voted in favour of having a few of these during the season, with the occasional Half Gala Day (Competition split in half) and one Full Gala Day if restrictions allow it.
More detail to come as the season nears, but lock in the dates below for now!
