SIRU Representative
Southern Inland Rugby Union aims to provide a pathway from our region through Brumbies so players can reach higher honours. We run both Senior and Junior programs to assist this, both for Males and Females.
Seniors
Our Senior Programs are both 15-a-side based, with our Men's team competing in the Brumbies Provincial Championship each year traditionally held on the June Long Weekend. In this tournament, SIRU competes against South Coast and Monaro.
SIRU has held the Men's title for ten years following the round-robin carnival.
SIRU Women's will also compete in the Brumbies Provincial Championships in 2022 for the first time, as they take on a combined South Coast-Monaro side.
Following this a Brumbies Country Squad is selected, which then goes on to compete against Brumbies City. This match is the pathway into either Brumbies Super W (Female) or ACT & SNSW Griffins (Male).
Juniors
Our Junior Boys Program has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years. The squad would traditionally travel to NSW Country Championships to compete against other Representative sides in their Age Group.
In 2019, Brumbies staff created the Southern States Championships, which saw Representative Teams of similar playing level come together from South Australia, Tasmania, Central West, South Coast, Monaro and SIRU.
Each squad will participate in a range of Camps and Training Sessions to prepare, before heading to Canberra for three days to compete.
Our Junior Girls Program has developed quickly in recent years, with players eligible for selection in Brumbies Country Squads (mixture of players from SIRU, South Coast and Monaro) to play alongside the Boys Teams at Southern States Championships in Canberra.
