Following on from the inaugural Women's Rugby Round on May 11th, SIRU announced some important dates and games for the Women's Representative Program in 2019.
With the Competition Bye occuring during the June Long Weekend, SIRU is excited to be taking a Women's team to Canberra to play a friendly against Uni-Norths. Uni-Norths participates in the Premier XVs Women's competition and the Women's Development League. Their squad features many former Southern Inland players including Claudia Obst, Sammie Wood and Anna Korovata. This game will occur at the same location as the Brumbies Provincial Championship which will see the SIRU Men's team look to defend their unbeaten run. On July 13th (now a Women's bye due to the Women's Rugby Round), SIRU has committed to taking a team to Newcastle to play against Newcastle-Hunter in a curtain-raiser match before the Wallaroos play against Japan in a historic test match for Women's Rugby in Australia. This is a great opportunity for our athletes to compete on the national stage. Similar to the 2018 program, we will also be providing the opportunity for those interested to travel to Canberra to trial for the Brumbies Super W program. Details for this will come out later in the year. SIRU is proud to announce their City and Country squads for the fixture on 12th May 2019 in Leeton. With a very different program in 2019, the Rep season began in late 2018, followed by a trial against Uni-Norths (ACT) in late March.
