Alongside our Senior Representative Teams, our 3 Junior Representative Teams will also head to Canberra this weekend to play in trial matches against South Coast - Monaro (Combined) teams in U12s, U14s and U16s.
The day will be a great spectacle of Country Rugby across both the Senior Men's, Senior Women's and Junior landscape as the various teams take the field at ANU North. SIRU U12s:

After a year off in 2020, SIRU is excited to announce the 2021 SIRU Men's Representative Team to represent the zone at the Brumbies Provincial Championships at ANU North Oval on Saturday 12th June 2021. This team will compete against the two other regional zones managed by Brumbies Rugby, South Coast and Monaro, for the Brumbies Provincial Championship. The team selected comprises players from a range of Clubs in the zone, all players selected did nominate to be involved in the program, with some tough selections having to be made across all positions by our Coaches. At the end of the Tournament, a Brumbies Country team will be announced, this team will play against Brumbies City, which will comprise of players from ACT Premier Rugby (including John I Dent Cup) following the 2021 Season for the opportunity to represent ACT & SNSW in a National level competition in October (further details TBC). Alongside the Men's team, SIRU will also have 2 x Women's teams and 3 x Junior teams participating during the day.
With the changing XVs and 7s National Calendar for Women's Rugby, SIRU had not planned anything in the Women's Representative space for 2021 as the June period was going to clash with Super W preparations and the Brumbies Squad would have already been selected. After some discussions with Brumbies and SIRU Club Coaches, SIRU will take a City (Wagga based) and a Country (Non-Wagga based) Squad to Canberra to play alongside the other SIRU teams in front of Brumbies Super W Coaches, with aims of further selections in 2022. The two squads will be playing XVs Rugby, something most are not familar with, but with a specialised Scrum session under the tutelage of Ray Wells (Tumut 1st XV Coach) our Female contingent are learning the intricacies of the game faster than most. Hopefully this match will lead to higher honours for some of our players, much like Harriet Elleman (Waratahs), Apryll Green (Wagga City) and Tess Staines (Reddies) who are inclusions in the Brumbies Super W Squad heading into their 2021 Season.
