Many who came out of the meeting on Sunday were impressed with how many nominations there were this year, with 12 people nominating for the 7 positions available. Please see below for the new appointed 2019 SIRU Board.
With David Adamson and Carl King calling an end on their time on the SIRU Board, this left two major roles available (President and Vice-President of Seniors) with 2018 Board Members Warwick Grant and Martin Hogan (Respectively) stepping up to fill the roles. The Vice-President of Juniors role was left vacant in 2018, but it was great to see two nominations this year, Paul Spain of the Wagga Wagga Crows was successfully appointed following a ballot. The four directors positions were hotly contested with nine nominations! Following the initial vote a second was needed to resolve a draw between two candidates. After this the SIRU Council Meeting was held with the competition structure, development of the relationship between Senior and Junior Rugby, development of the Representative Programs, and the decision to move the Women's competition to 10-a-side key topics of the day. Clubs were asked to think about how they wanted to see the competition pan out this year and return this to SIRU to deliberate and release the finalised calendar and draw. 2019 SIRU Board President - Warwick Grant (Wagga Waratahs) Vice-President of Seniors - Martin Hogan Vice-President of Juniors - Paul Spain (Wagga Crows) Director - Bart Challacombe (Leeton Phantoms) Director - Brendon Reynolds (SIRRA) Director - Tom Adamson Director - Will Reynolds (Tumut Bulls)
