In an uncertain 2020 when it comes to sport, it was great to have all six schools back at Conolly Rugby Park last night taking the field for the second season of Wagga Wagga Super 6s!
First up at 4:30PM we had the 2019 5th and 6th placed teams with Kooringal High School taking on Wagga Wagga Christian College. Whilst WWCC looked good in periods of the match, Kooringal certainly brought more experience and aggression to the field, running away victorious with a scoreline of 70-0. Kooringal improved week-on-week in 2019, and if this where they are starting in 2020 they should be dominant by the back-end of the season. In our second match we saw the Minor Final from 2019 reoccur with The Riverina Anglican College and Wagga Wagga High School face off. TRAC certainly brought a structured game plan showing off some serious preparation over the year, and ran away with a 57-0 victory. WWHS will certainly look back on some missed opportunities and hope to turn it around in the coming weeks. In our primetime match at 6:30PM we saw a repeat of the 2019 Grand Final, with Kildare Catholic College seeking revenge on Mater Dei Catholic College. In what was a see-sawing first half, Kildare went up 10-0, before Mater Dei brought it back to 10-all before half time. Both teams certainly kept moving the ball from one end of the field to the other with open-play kicking as well as creative ball movement. Both teams will rue missed opportunities, but Kildare will be pleased to start their season with a 30-15 victory. Following last nights results the standings are:
Next weeks matches are: 4:30PM - Kildare CC v WWHS 5:30PM - Mater Dei CC v Kooringal HS 6:30PM - WWCC v TRAC * - No Spectators Allowed
